In early April, I had the unbelievable experience to stretch my experience maintaining the role of a Bahamas Wedding Planner at a destination wedding on the beautiful island of Abaco one of the many Bahamian islands. This wedding was such a fun experience for all involved and the island itself is charming, stunning, and the ultimate beach location to exchange nuptials.
Adam & Emily wanted something casual, intimate, and totally them. Around 70 guests traveled to Abaco to celebrate the couple. The ceremony was held on a beach behind the St. James Methodist Church. White pews were brought in and the bride’s brother constructed a huppah out of driftwood and adorned it with a swag of white fabric.
The ceremony featured personalized vows the couple wrote to each-other and the ceremony was officiated by a family friend who had many tales to tell of the couple’s love story.
Immediately following the ceremony, guests hopped on golf carts (the island has very few cars and most people travel by bike, foot, or golf cart) and raced up to the Abaco Inn for a lively happy hour! Live music was provided by two local musicians and signature drinks were served as guests overlooked the bay and setting sun.
Dinner was served as guests sat at long tables adorned with greenery, sea glass, and numerous candles. Dinner featured traditional Bahamian food. The night wound down as guests danced to lively island music and popular favorites. It was truly a wedding I will never forget.
